FELLOWSHIP APPOINTMENTS

Terreform is offering fellowships to support research that advances the craft and practice of architecture and urbanism. Potential areas of research may include design methodologies, representation and fabrication, mobility technology, and ecological design, or other topics. In addition to a stipend and research expenses of up to $40,000, Terreform will provide space and support within the studio’s New York headquarters. Fellows are expected to establish residency in the office for terms of three to twelve months, between September 2008 and September 2009.

Eligible fellows may come from any country and can have a degree or experience in any field. Fellows are not employees and have autonomy to pursue their work. At the same time, Terreform hopes to foster lively interaction between fellows and staff at all levels, encouraging fellows to test ideas against projects in progress and to share their ideas in informal interactions as well as formal presentations. Fellows will present their work at least once to the public and invited guests and will document their findings for publication at the conclusion of the fellowship.

Proposals must be in English and will be judged based on their merits, including: the potential of the research to advance the discipline of architecture; the applicant’s qualifications to conduct the research; the benefit to the research from being carried out within an architectural office; and the likelihood that the research can be completed within the requested time and resources.

The amount of funding will be determined based on the term of the fellowship and the expenses associated with the research.

All decisions on fellowships are final and are subject to the discretion of Terreform

Proposals must be post-marked on or before July 1, 2008.
