Makoto Okazaki
Principal Architect

He was born and raised in Kobe, Japan, and has fifteen years of experience in architecture, urban design and construction management with an architect license approved by the Japanese Ministry of Construction (1995). He holds a M.U.D degree from The City College of City University of New York.
In the past five years, he has devoted to both practical and theoretical projects at all scales with a special interest in the city and in green architecture. Recent projects include planning and design for a highly sustainable 5000-unit community in Penang, Malaysia, urban design in Chungcheong, Korea, campus planning at CCNY in Manhattan, New York, housing design in Bangalore, India, a resort in the desert of Abu Dhabi, a park in Queens, New York, and an urban re-development in downtown Shanghai, China. Previously he has been an architect at Tohata Architects in Japan. Projects he designed in Japan were high-rise office buildings in Osaka, cultural complexes for City of Osaka and City of Kyoto, a museum for Osaka Chamber of Commerce, and city re-development in downtown Kobe. He has received Second Place on Taiwan Gateway Competition  (2004), Japan Sign Design Association Award (2001) and Second Place on Architectural Design Contest (1997) from Ministry of Internal Affairs of Japan.
